Ghostwatch

This iconic slice of BBC genius was aired as a straight-up investigation show in the early 90s, but was actually an innovative piece of found footage horror. Familiar faces such as Michael Parkinson and Craig Charles presented the show as a rollicking investigation into a supposedly haunted house, a premise that soon descended into “unscripted” chaos as the house is revealed to be plagued by a ghost calling himself Pipes. I’d love to see how modern audiences would react to a serious horror show after being exposed to every found footage trick in the book. And I want Mark Kermode in it, and I want him battling a horde of demons with a butter knife stolen from the BBC staffroom. Come on Auntie, pull your fingers out, and let’s make this happen.
