Those wonderful folks at Warner Bros have just made an announcement that is sure to put a smile on any comic book fan / gamer… Due out this October is Batman: Arkham Origins, the next instalment in the Batman: Arkham franchise.

The game, which will be set in Gotham City on Christmas Eve turns back the clock to the Dark Knight’s early crime fighting days. This means no Joker, Penguin or any of the other standard Bat-villains. The exact details of the game are still under wraps, but if the production values are anything like Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, then we are in for a treat.

Along with Arkham Origins, which will be released on the PC, Xbox 350, PS3 and Wii U, Warner Bros have also announced Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, which will be available on the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS.  This will serve as a companion game, allowing players to continue the main story and explore other aspects of Gotham City.
